The last rites of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, killed in a plane crash, will be held with full state honours on Thursday (January 29, 2026) at 11 a.m. at Vidya Pratishthan in Baramati, Pune. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the State cabinet will be present at the funeral. Mr. Pawar and four others were killed after an aircraft carrying them crashed in Pune district on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) morning, officials said. There were five people on board when the aircraft crashed at 8:50 a.m., a police official said.
